What is crankshaft?

A crankshaft is a rotating shaft in an engine that converts the pistons’ reciprocating motion into rotational motion. It’s key mechanical component of an internal combustion engine’s power transmission system. Depend on different industrial application, Baoding Guokun can produce and export the different metal crankshaft which produced in different process, including:

Sand casting process for cast iron crankshaft

Precoated sand casting process, also known as shell mold casting, is one of resin coated sand casting techniques. Compared with resin sand casting method and green sand casting techniques, the pre-coated resin sand casting is the most precision casting process, even close to investment casting. Baoding Guokun precoated sand casting products are with better surface quality, less sand casting defects, and very high dimensional accuracy with general casting tolerance ISO 8062 CT8.

And the molding material of precoated sand casting is a mixture of dry, fine silica sand with minimal clay content and 3~8 percent thermosetting resin. When the molding mixture drops on to the heated pattern plate, a hard shell of around 6mm~12mm thickness if formed. In order to cure the shell completely, it must be heated to 440 to 650°F for several minutes. And the shell mold casting process is no need to use the sand box when pouring. So the small footprint and less sand used in casting will cause less environmental pollution.

Shell moulding casting process has many advantages, including high quality surface finishes and dimension accuracy CT8, low tooling cost, complex shapes casting products, short lead times, wide material options.

Precoated sand shell mold casting allows the use of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, most commonly using cast iron, carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, and copper alloys.
